About Our Finance Calculators

The loan, EMI, and mortgage tools all use the standard amortization formula — the same math the CFPB describes for how lenders compute monthly payments. Compound-interest and savings tools use the textbook compound-growth equations you'll find behind the SEC's own Investor.gov calculators. Each page shows the formula, a worked example with real numbers, and a reference table you can sanity-check offers against.

What these tools can't know: your credit-based rate, lender fees, taxes, or insurance. That's why a bank's quote will differ from a clean formula result — ours tells you the mathematical core of the deal so you can spot how much of the quote is rate and how much is extras. Estimates here are education, not financial advice.

Where Most People Start

Finance Calculators — FAQs

Why does my bank's quote differ from the calculator?

The calculator returns the pure amortization math for the rate and term you enter. Lenders add origination fees, credit-based rate adjustments, escrow for taxes and insurance, and sometimes different day-count conventions. If the gap is large, ask the lender to break out which add-ons cause it — the base math should match ours.

Are these results financial advice?

No — they're mathematical estimates for education and planning. Rates, fees, and eligibility vary by person and lender. For decisions like a mortgage or large investment, confirm the numbers with a qualified financial adviser.

Which formulas do the finance tools use?

Standard industry math: the amortization payment formula for loans/EMI/mortgages, compound growth A = P(1 + r/n)^nt for interest and savings, and simple ratio math for ROI and break-even. Every calculator page lists its formula and cites a source such as the CFPB, SEC Investor.gov, or the Federal Reserve.
