About Day Counting
Weddings, retirements, exams, product launches, streaks, sobriety milestones — 'how many days?' is the unit of anticipation and of discipline both. The arithmetic is trivial for next week and genuinely error-prone across months (31-day months, leap years, that one February).
Pick the date; the counter returns days, weeks-and-days, exact weekdays in the span, the day of the week it lands on, and its day-of-year. Past dates flip automatically to 'days since' — anniversaries and streaks use the same machinery.

How the Count Works
Calendar-exact, with the weekday walk done honestly:
Days = target − today (calendar days, leap-aware) Weekdays = actual Mon–Fri count in the span (business days = weekdays − public holidays, which vary by region)
Worked example: from July 11 to December 25, 2026 is 167 days — 23 weeks and 6 days, containing 120 weekdays — and Christmas 2026 lands on a Friday, day 359 of the year. The weekday figure counts the calendar, not the weeks×5 shortcut, so it's exact before holidays.

Counting Conventions
Inclusive or exclusive? This counter (like most) excludes today and counts through the target — Friday to next Friday is 7. Legal and medical contexts sometimes count inclusively ('within 30 days' may include day one); when a deadline matters, the governing document's convention wins, and one day of slack is cheap insurance.
Business-day fine print: the weekday count here is exact, but public holidays vary by country, state, and even industry (bank holidays vs trading days vs court days). US federal holidays remove about 11 weekdays a year; count them off the calendar for spans where precision pays.
